- 'Isami
- (1311-?)Isami, the author of Futuh us-salatin (Gifts of the Sultans), was the son of 'Izz ul-Din 'Isami. He was born in 1311, pos-sibly at Delhi. The family was forced to migrate from Delhi to Daulatabad in 1327 on Muhammad bin Tughlaq's order. 'Isami's father died on the way. During his stay at Daulatabad, 'Isami was dis-gusted with what he perceived as the misdeeds and tyranny of Muhammad bin Tughlaq (1325-1351). He planned to migrate to Mecca, but only after writing a history of Muslim rule in India. 'Isami completed this book, Futuh us-slatin, which he also calls Shah-nama-i Hind, in 1350 at a time when Daulatabad had already come to be ruled by Hasan Gangu.
